First responders are enacting real change locally and pledging that âchildren and teachers will be protected at all costs,â while Democratic politicians have resorted to restricting the rights of law-abiding residents to purportedly combat the threats of violent offenders. Due to the implementation of âtactical preparednessâ for school resource deputies, Floridaâs Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey declared on Tuesday that moving forward, the schools in his region will become âhard targets.â
Following the Robb Elementary School tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, in which 19 children and two teachers were killed, lawmakers seized the chance to push through gun control laws that did not address the underlying reasons of the slaughter. Additionally, inquiries continue concerning the local law enforcementâs reluctance to confront the issue head-on.
In a video that was uploaded to Facebook, the sheriff made the statement while standing next to a paraphrased quote that was commonly attributed to Sun Tzu and stated, âEvery Battle Is Won Or Lost Before It Is Ever Fought!!â
He specifically mentioned Uvalde when he said, âIn the upcoming weeks, the Brevard County Sheriffâs Officeâs school resource officers will transition to a new style uniform and level of preparedness that goes even farther to assist keep our students safe. âA tactical appearance that makes it apparent we mean business when it comes to protecting our kids, and a tactical advantage that allows our team to quickly deal with an active shooter who might be on our campus with a rifle.â
Later, the quotation next to Ivey read, âOur kids and teachers will be safeguarded at any costs!â He went on to say, âYou are not killing our kids in our classrooms. âI am completely convinced that if you donât respond to violence with violence, you will be killed violently.â
Iveyâs perspective on law enforcementâs function in society is not a recent development; in fact, he previously responded to criticism of a shootout between police and a career criminal who died after receiving multiple gunshot wounds by saying, âLet there be no doubt, this individual got exactly what he deserved. And for anyone out there who would be stupid enough to wonder why we shot him so many times, the answer is straightforward: evil can never be killed off completely.
The sheriff continued by describing how, before the modification, a school resource officer would have wasted valuable time by leaving the building to get their firearm out of the safe in their car before dealing with a danger similar to the one in Texas.
According to Ivey, âThis new style uniform and tactical preparedness offers our team members the advantage and capacity to rapidly confront the threat with the amount of force necessary to take down the shooter and preserve the lives of innocent teachers and children.â
According to the Daily Mail, North Carolinaâs Madison County Sheriff Buddy Harwood recently took identical actions to Iveyâs in preparation for the start of the new school year.
All of our countyâs schools now have an AR-15 rifle and a safe, thanks to our efforts. In order to access those safes, we also have breaching instruments. He described a simplified version of Iveyâs strategy: âWeâve got extra magazines with bullets in those safes.
Some have complained that the Brevard County Sheriffâs defense tactics make the school appear like an Israeli airport because of their aesthetics. Ivey responded to those critics by asking, âWhen was the last time you heard about someone shooting up an Israeli airport? You didnât. They are better equipped, which is the reason why. He concluded, âOur squad is on patrol at the entryway to keep evil out.
