Sen. Lindsey Graham praised President Biden on Sunday for a number of bipartisan legislative victories, including those in the areas of social media, infrastructure, and gun control.
The South Carolina Republicanâs praise came as the tax and climate spending bill was being advanced by Senate Democrats along party lines, angering Republicans in the midst of the greatest inflation rate in forty years.
He endorsed documents that made sense. Weâve been working on the infrastructure bill and the gun issue for years. On CNNâs âState of the Union,â Mr. Graham remarked, âWe kind of discovered the sweet spot. We worked on the EARN IT Act, which allows for legal action against social media platforms that fail to shield children from exploitation. When predators target minors online, you must harden your sites to avoid being sued.
Despite party divisions over the spending package known as the Inflation Reduction Act, Mr. Graham, who was interviewed alongside Connecticut Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal, was polite to his Democratic colleagues.
The package calls for tax increases on major corporations and the wealthiest Americans while allocating $433 billion for climate change and healthcare. Republicans have warned that this will simply worsen the situation for lower- and middle-class Americans who are already struggling with inflation.
We have found agreement on domestic and foreign policy concerns, and Mr. Graham stated, âIâm working with [Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts] to establish a regulatory committee to address social media issues.â There are many of us in Washington who fight and cooperate, and I simply want the nation to know that all hope is not lost there.
