I like Ron DeSantis. I think he’s a great Florida governor. I think he’s a lot like President Trump in many ways, and he definitely is America First, and I believe that someday, DeSantis will make a great president. But not in 2024… and if these people keep pushing him, and trying to force a “DeSantis 2024” thing to happen, they’re going to ruin this man’s political career before it ever really takes off the ground.
There are a few different things happening with the DeSantis 2024 movement. Let me explain what’s happening. Many of the people supporting this movement are former Cruz 2016 supporters, who reluctantly supported Trump only after Ted lost — they were never really fans of President Trump. They’ve always thought Trump is too brash, his tweets are mean, and they hate that they have to defend the outrageous stuff he says, bla bla bla. Those are the more moderate conservatives who care what other people think and believe politicians should be very polished and only fight like Harvard intellectuals. The next group pushing this movement is the GOP establishment, who don’t like DeSantis, but think they can control him much easier than they could President Trump who is out for revenge. The last group supporting DeSantis (again, reluctantly) are NeverTrumpers, and their feeling is that if they support and push DeSantis, and get him to run, they can cause such a huge break in the MAGA movement, that the entire thing will fold and collapse. And the last group are just over-eager DeSantis fans who live in Florida and love the guy and want to see him kick butt nationally.
A lot of these groups are putting out absurd outlier polls showing DeSantis winning over Trump. I see these and I roll my eyes; they are as dopey as polls claiming Democrat Charlie Crist is beating DeSantis in Florida. I’m sorry to those who are confused, but DeSantis would have more luck building a snowman in the middle of the Sahara Desert on a 122 degree day, than winning a primary against President Trump.
2024 is Trump’s to grab or pass on. There is no other option. President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party, and it’s not even close and anyone who tries to challenge him, including DeSantis, will commit political suicide. These things are delicate, and they need to play out the right way. If Trump runs in 2024, DeSantis can run in 2028. If Trump stays on the sidelines and coaches in 2024, then DeSantis should run. But this pushing of “DeSantis 2024” by people on our side (and not on our side) is not good, and it will cause problems if it’s not shut down.
The good news is that it’s being shut down, everywhere you look… and the latest place is at CPAC.
I mean, it’s not even close…
CPAC is a place where there are a TON of DeSantis-types, and it was still this much of a blowout.
It’s time to put this DeSantis 2024 nonsense to rest, and wait and see what President Trump does.
The only goal all of us should be focused on right now, is making sure Dems can’t cheat their way to another fake “victory” again in 2022 and 2024.
