Amy Kremer, a Jan. 6 protest organizer and co-founder of Women for Trump, criticized the former president in comments published by Politico on Wednesday for his support of Katie Britt, who won the Republican Alabama Senate primary on Tuesday. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who had the support of Kremer and numerous other conservatives, was beaten by Britt.
Donald Trump is cut off from his supporters, Kremer told Politico. “Donald Trump is disconnected from the base. … It’s time for those of us in the movement to get back to basics, back to our first principles. … We were here long before President Trump came along, and we’re going to be here long afterward.”
Kremer tweeted: “I’m on the ground in Alabama & Trump got this way wrong,” Kremer wrote. “People are very angry at him. … I’m not sure they will get over this. They view it as a slap in the face & a disconnect from the [people]. I get it…”
But oh boy…it’s bad.
Either way, there is going to need to be a lot of damage control.

Trump first backed Brooks, but later withdrew it as the congressman’s popularity fell. By endorsing Trump’s phony charges of election fraud, Brooks made an effort to win back his favor. But they parted ways amicably in the end.
Kremer, who organized the rally on January 6 at the Ellipse outside the White House with her daughter Kylie Jane Kremer, is firmly on Team Brooks. Before the vote on Tuesday, she attacked the former president in a number of tweets.
